Bus pass info now available on the new Transportation Department webpage
By utilizing a collaborative approach, we continue to implement reductions in order to meet our budget requirements.  The Board of Trustees took action on June 8, 2010 to cut approximately $1 million dollars of additional expenditures, which included five (5) management positions, a freeze of many vacant positions, and reductions in transportation expenditures.  As our goal is to be as transparent as possible, we will continue to provide updates and interact with the various community groups.  The link below will provide additional information/updates on budget reductions.

BULLETIN: Wrightwood Elementary
Due to a reduction in ridership and cuts in education funding by the State of California, the Governing Board has deemed it necessary to consolidate the two existing Wrightwood Elementary bus routes into ONE route for the 2010-2011 school year, which is identified as BUS ROUTE # A.   Information regarding this route will be posted on the District’s Transportation webpage starting on July 26th, 2010

BULLETIN: FOR ALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS  -  Wrightwood, Phelan, Baldy Mesa, Pinon Hills & Vista Verde

Due to a reduction in ridership and cuts in education funding by the State of California, the Governing Board has deemed it necessary that beginning with the 2010-2011 school year there shall be NO Mid-Day Kindergarten bus transportation routes.  Kindergarten students utilizing transportation services shall be assigned an AM pick up (to school) bus stop or a PM (take home) bus stop.  Bus passes issued for Kindergarten students shall be issued at ½ cost, for one-way transportation.  Elementary school bus routes for 2010-2011 shall be posted on the District’s Transportation webpage starting on July 26th, 2010.

registApplications for the Snowline Joint Unified School District State Preschool Program are now being accepted for the 2010/2011 school year.  State Preschool is available free of charge to eligible families of preschool age children. Eligibility is determined by family income, family size, and age of child.  To be considered for enrollment, a Centralized Eligibility List application must be completed and returned to one of the following school sites; Baldy Mesa, Phelan, Pinon Hills, Vista Verde, or Wrightwood Elementary School. The application is available here and can be completed electronically, printed, and then returned to one of the above listed school sites. Student Safety
Ever wonder if your child’s school is prepared for an emergency?  You are probably aware of what happens in the event of an earthquake from the yearly drills, but what about a bomb threat, a fire, or a threatening intruder?  You may also wonder what the school does to help prevent alcohol and drug use, and violence.

You can find all this information in each school’s Comprehensive School Safety Plan.  There are scenarios for 14 different emergency situations, along with evacuation instructions and necessary resources for such events.  You will also find out information about prevention activities that each school is providing for its students.
